Bodice-ripping journalism

An hour into my trip to Manila, I stop on a street corner and shell out eight pesos for a copy of the esteemed Peoples Journal Tonight.
Under the subtle headline, “MALL SEX SCANDAL”, I read the following teaser:
The Daewoo rocked suspiciously at the parking lot of the Tiendesitas strip mall at dawn, hinting of a couple having animal sex in the back seat. True enough, Rhea Justin Bastre, 19, and her boyfriend, Gian Paolo Mandoza, 24, were found pumping and stroking each other’s sweat-filled, sizzling nakedness.
I love this city already.
Mind you, I’ve been walking around a lot in this 31-degree heat and I must say my body is getting sweat-filled. I think I shall retire to a hostel, where I can shower in my sizzling nakedness.

THAT the entire article is defamatory of the Plaintiff in its natural and ordinary meaning by accusing the Plaintiff of being a liar, a thief, an impersonator, a person who has a history of false claims and promises, that he is not to be trusted, that he is using hype to attract money from investors, that investors have been pouring money into his invention that is dubious on the contrary the Plaintiff has used his own funds for this project and has not taken a cent from anyone, that he has checkered career as a fraudster and a liar and cannot be trusted , that his work is dubious, that he will tarnish New Zealand?s overseas image as a Clean Green Environment, that he has been working in Canada illegally, that he is not a person who can raise a family, that he has a mental health problem and by definition can not be trusted and in particular says that the following passages are defamatory,
…… that he received compensation of $300,000 from some $3 million real estate deal which is a lie, etc,etc etc.
The list goes on and on McKenzie;
I told you I’ll be back and I hope you have enough money saved up because I make this “PROMISE THAT I KEEP” ………..and it is this ” I will hold you accountable McKenzie for YOUR LITANY of LIES.”

Yes I am a friend of Hamish. I can unequivocally vouch for his character. As you have the ability to trace URLs then you must be seeing that he has many friends worldwide who are willing to support him. Contrasting your overt and veiled threats with his consistent and responsible journalism gives anyone even casting a cursory look at this case a clear bias in his favor. I have known Hamish for nine years and have nothing but positive things to say about him.

This is my intention remember “FREE SPEECH GOES BOTH WAYS” or are you of the opinion that FREE SPEECH IS JUST RESERVED FOR THE PRESS?

this is interesting. I was served libel papers once. And the threatening tone is usually evidence of a lack of a case. Trying to settle out of court or establish money as a pay off.
